Join Stella Parton (who recently spoke out against attacks on her sister Dolly’s Imagination Library), authors of some of the most banned books in the country, and families fighting for the freedom to learn for a one-of-a-kind virtual event! It’s a Read-In! While you watch, post a photo of yourself with your favorite banned book using the hashtag #BannedBookChallenge (we might even show some of the best during the event!).

This event is for both experienced and new block walkers! Even if you’ve never knocked doors before, we’ll make sure you have all the resources and training you need to have a great first-time experience. After you sign up, you’ll receive an email with those resources and training materials. Your host will also kick off this block walk by leading a comprehensive 30 minute training on how to knock doors!

We hope you had a good summer. But let’s face it. It has been a heart-wrenching, infuriating few months in Texas, thanks to the cruelty and cravenness of our Governor and Republican legislators.

But now is not the time to give up. That is what they are counting on. That is how authoritarianism flourishes.

What we need to do is get busy. And we have just the project for all of us.

Please join us Thursday, Sept. 30 on Zoom to write letters and emails to President Joe Biden, asking him to do everything in his power to quash Texas’ suppressive voting bill by passing the John Lewis Voting Rights Act and the For the People Act.

We will have sample letters for you to follow or help you write a more personal one, which is always more effective.

We’ll provide the email address or you can forward the letters to us to mail.

We’ll also answer any questions you have about SB 1, Texas’ reprehensible voting bill.

Be a Part of the Presidential Inaugural Committee's Day of Service

WDUA is partnering with the Presidential Inaugural Committee to do a community service project coinciding with the inauguration of President Elect Joe Biden.

WDUA is partnering with CHAI (Community Homes for Adults, Inc) to provide meals to the residents, who are adults with intellectual disabilities.

COVID has posed an enormous challenge for the CHAI residents, because they are confined to their homes and unable to socialize or go to their jobs.
